Windows 11 on unsupported hardware

I was asked to post the solution.

I found some guides on how to install Windows 11 on laptops that are not supported by Microsoft.

This is the site I found

I was able to download Rufus and create a bootable USB with Windows 11. I used Rufus to download the iso which seamed to work better.

I have install windows 11 on 2 laptops that are unsupported.

HP folio G1 – I installed fresh and it all worked. Not tested updates.

HP Envy x360 – on this I did an upgrade and all is working and I have run updates a few times and it looks to be working.

I am not sure how the licensing works with this so I do not think it is something we should promote just for information.

Err, so why are you promoting it?

The licensing is fine.

W10 licenses get a free pass to W11.

The hardware restrictions for W11 are not related to the license of the machine (in 99.9999% of PCs), so crow-barring W11 onto a W10 machine is perfectly legal/valid/cool from a licensing perspective.

Actually - in the early trials of W11, you could use a W8 license, but I’m not sure if they’ve turned that off.
