We have created a new registration platform for repair data called Let’s Repair.
The idea behind the platform was to create a customizable interface for gathering repair café data that would solve the challenges repair cafés are facing.
Highlights of the platform:
- Better data - share how you solved a problem for other repair cafés to use
- Customizable - gather the information you want
- Ask for donations - calculate savings and connect with payment services
- Kiosk style - guests can check in and out by themselves
- Own your data - export data to your national organization or simply download it
Right now, 10 repair cafés in Denmark are actively using the platform. We plan to develop the platform further, as we see huge potential in making it easier for repair cafés to share knowledge. The platform is designed to connect with other repair café databases, meaning that we are not a competitor to Restarters and similar platforms. Instead, it serves as an interface that each repair café can customize according to its own needs and preferences.
When a repair café signs up, it receives a custom URL that can be used in kiosk mode.
Each volunteer has a login, allowing them to add further details to a repair while it is being carried out.
In addition to the permissions that a regular volunteer has, administrators can customize the check-in and check-out process, as well as edit historical data.
The platform is currently available in English and Danish. Adding a new language is relatively straightforward. More development and documentation are needed, but as this is a free service we have created, we rely on grants and funding.
