Two Upgrading will mean it will move on to a new free operating system or Linux.
It will no longer be an android phone with all the benefits of compatibility that entails.
It is not an easy task as you can “Brick” your phone, i.e. make it useless.
Better to take it along to an expert, who has done it before.
If you install a custom ROM, such as LineageOS, then it is still essentially Android.
I think that’s the point of the workshop that Rosario shared - to get help from someone who has done it before.
