Hi Stephen, just to clarify, most sections of this forum are visible to the public (including this topic) - more on that here 
You’re right though that only logged-in members can see groups and events on Restarters directly. But adding a group or an event here on Restarters also publishes it automatically on The Restart Project website, which is visible to everybody (and usually does quite well on internet searches).
But going back to the main topic, thanks everybody for all these excellent ideas!
