Slate Mantel Clock for repair

At our Palmer Green repair cafe - we were asked if any fixers are able to fix a Slate Mantel Clock.

If anyone can or know a fixer that can, please let me know and I will pass the details of your repair café to the person who asked.

Thanks in advance

Tony

What’s wrong with it?

We’re too far away probably, but Bewdley Repair Cafe in Worcestershire has three experienced volunteer horologists at most of our sessions. A slate mantel clock could be fitted with a mechanical French, American or German movement, hence any horologist will need a lot more detail before deciding whether a repair is possible within the constraints of a Repair Cafe environment.

Hi Steve,

They were not sure, all they would say is that it does not work.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the information, I will let them know.

If its a battery powered clock then it is usually easy to replace the mechanism. The main thing when ordering is getting the correct length spindle and the correct spidle for the existing hands. Photos are a start but the best thing is to bring it in. Then order parts from Buy clock parts, clock movements and clock repair - Dans Clock Shop UK

Firstly I would advise taking the battery mech apart, (screwed or clipped), then a quick squirt of switch cleaner often gets them running again.
