Samsung workers recent strike

Workers in Samsung’s chip division went on strike last month, protesting poor labour conditions.

The company actively dissuades workers from joining unions and pressures unionised precarious employees to disengage from their representative organisations. These tactics involve paying lower wages to union members and subjecting them to intensive monitoring, which raises significant ethical concerns about Samsung’s treatment of its workforce in the technology industry.

As mentioned in the article, poor working conditions (and anti-union practices) are not uncommon in the supply chains of the big tech firms.

The three days strike mentioned in that article eventually resulted in an indefinite strike as the company refused negotiations.
