Looks like Google is ending all software support (including security updates) for its original Pixel phone as threatened, after just 3 years (in December):
A silver lining is that the Pixel is officially supported by LineageOS.
It’s hard to see this as anything other than an attempt to force people to buy a newer device. Certainly, from a repair perspective, it seems absurd that Google offers such a short window for security updates.
I wonder whether this will help embed even more firmly the precedent of short support windows for OEMs. What does everyone think?
