Operation : Wheel Chair

Hi,

This World Environment Day, we’re embarking on a meaningful mission: to collect, repair, and donate wheelchairs and other mobility aids to the Jaipur Foot Initiative at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru, India.

The Jaipur Foot Initiative, operated by Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), is renowned for providing free prosthetic limbs and mobility aids to individuals in need, restoring their mobility and dignity.

By contributing to this cause, we not only promote environmental sustainability through the reuse of medical equipment but also make a tangible difference in the lives of those who require these essential aids.

If you’re interested in participating or need more information on how to donate, please feel free to reach out. Let’s come together to make a positive impact this World Environment Day!

Hello, there are free. Open source resources here https://myhumankit.org/en/the-humanlab/

You’ll have to look at the wiki I think and put the link in translate google, the wiki seems to be in French only.

I hope it can help contributing.

Hi,
I visited their website—have you had a chance to interact with them personally?
Would you be interested in discussing their projects further?

Thanks
Purna

I met with them once, when I participated to a hackaton in favor of the impaired, back in 2016. My job was to document the printing of decorations for prostetic legs. Meanwhile, there were 13 teams working on 9 projects, for a total of 120 people during 3 days.

I haven’t met with them since, and we don’t live in the same area in France. But you can contact them to ask for the open-source blueprints (I’m not sure where they put it). The contacts can be found in various places of their website, such as at the end of this page: https://myhumankit.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/CP-011216-1.pdf

(Do not hesitate to write to them in English, I’m sure they’ll manage!). Also from their website I found this lead: https://hackaday.com/tag/my-human-kit/

although I can’t seem to find the open-source blueprints yet.

Therefore I am now looking for the wheechair assistance technology (" e-Trotti – a low-cost, removable electrical assistance for wheelchair use, made from electric scooter parts.") in https://archive.org wayback machine, and I have been able to find several entries, here is one of them: https://web.archive.org/web/20171129170836/https://myhumankit.org/en/tutoriels/troti-e-english-doc/

The retrieval of the document seems tedious, but with some patience, you might be able to retrieve all the images from each chapter (unless the guy at MyHumanKit still has the docs somewhere).

Louis Rossmann, on behalf of FUTO gave a $200000 to the Mobility Independance Foundation. With this money MIF built an open source assisted wheelcair.

Hi,
We have been collecting wheelchairs from donors, with the intention of repairing them and donating them to a reputed hospital through the Jaipur Foot Initiative.

Thanks
Purna

Just a thought :

Organizations working on open-source projects to address disabilities in different countries in the world, and not knowing each other, should try to find a way to talk to each other, in order to mutualize what they do, how, the blueprints, schematics, events, results, and so on.

Isn’t there a kind of webzine somewhere where they could all report about their works?
