Thoughts please on the new Meta One subscription plans and how this might impact local Repair Cafes and communicatin about their impact and raising awareness ![]()

For those who arent aware, as of 15th September 2026 Meta have introduced a HUGE change
across Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp.
This new subscription model fundamentally alters how people will interact with information online on Facebook as it now means that Facebook pages need to pay if they want to add external links and also algorithms will prioritise more reach for those paying the subscription fee
. This poses a challenge for local organisations relying on organic social media to drive event sign-ups, fundraising or awareness raising etc.
Below is the pricing structure of paid tiers for Facebook Pages and Instagram profiles.
Basic (no fee tier) is free with only 2 organic external links per month:
Essential (£12.49/month): Includes a verified badge, impersonation protection, profile link page (up to 20 links), and social plus features.
Advanced (£41.99/month): Adds non-follower reach, search ranking, content scheduling, human support, and allows up to 8 post or reel links.
Expert (£129/month): Expands capabilities to 20 post or reel links and 5 support cases.
Max (£419/month): Provides unlimited link sharing and priority support.
What does this mean for us locally?
Getting the word out about local Repair Cafe events just got harder with a zero or limited budget.
