Can you suggest any relevant studies or reports specific to the Indian context that could support this discussion?

Hi,

We are writing for a newspaper about the importance of International Repair Day for Indian consumers who deal with substandard products lacking warranties. Could this awareness push manufacturers to create more durable goods?

Consumers often hear, “It’s just your luck if it lasts,” but they deserve reliable products, not ones with uncertain quality.

Could you suggest any relevant studies or reports specific to the Indian context that could support this discussion?

Thanks
Purna

Hi Purna,
We don’t have any specific study linked to the Indian context. But you could say that examples of new legislation already approved in the EU and in some US state show the need for design for repairability and consumer rights for all products sold everywhere, otherwise the risk is that countries without ambitious legislation might become a dumping ground by manufacturers for products no longer accepted in other parts of the world.

Best,
Ugo
