Many of you will have seen the headlines about the latest installment of the “Big tech vs right to repair” saga: Apple, having supported the California R2R bill last year (so that it could influence the content), is now opposing an Oregon bill, because it includes provisions about parts pairing.
The good news is that Google (which also came out in support of a R2R bill recently) does support the Oregon bill, and isn’t bothered by the parts pairing regulations. So Apple is looking pretty isolated, and the bill has since progressed despite Apple’s objections.
