I have many years experience of repairing all manner of things, including grandfather clocks, motor bikes (older 2 stroke and 4 stroke) valve radios and tv sets, older tape recorders.
I have very extensive experience of installing and setting up computers with open source software, for both desktop and server use. I have installed and maintained mailservers, with antispam and antivirus built in, office file servers with optional secure remote access, web servers, ssh servers, mailing list managers, etc.
I have been an advocate of open source software for many years, various flavours of linux for the desktop, and FreeBSD and OpenBSD for servers, Debian linux is also good for servers.
I am always available for consultation on any subject related to the above.
I will always examine anything that needs repair to see if it is fixable, as we know a lot of modern stuff is not designed to be fixed although one may improvise sometimes.
I have also worked in the photography industry for many years and am equipped to dismantle camera and enlarging lenses with a view to fixing malfunctions where possible.
