I trained as an electrical engineer (in the 1980s) and worked for the BBC for 20 years, gradually moving away from engineering and into project management. I’m now retired, but I still love fixing stuff - not just electronics, but any kind of machinery.
I’ve fixed a number of bits of audio gear (mixers, amplifiers, etc.) between jobs. I’ve rescued a few computers from the tip. I use an electric leaf blower, rescued from Freegle and fixed. I hate seeing usable stuff just thrown away!
