My background is Electronics working in the Aerospace industry.
Recent successful electronic repairs include 2 LCD TVs (faults on circuit boards), sewing machines, DAB radio, DVD player, old transistor radio with sentimental value to owner and several electronic toys.
I also try to reuse parts from faulty electronic items that cannot be fixed. This may be components and cables - I have a large selection of re-usable cables. Of particular use are the external power supply blocks ( I call them wall warts!) so common to many equipments. Just identify they have the correct voltage, pin connections and current capacity and re-purpose on another piece of equipment to bring it back to life. If the connector is wrong most can be easily changed - all you need is a soldering iron and heat shrink sleeve for insulation. Don’t throw your redundant wall warts away pass them to a repair cafe for reuse.

And just a word on safety - mains equipment can be dangerous so if you are not sure get the right advice rather than opening up and getting a shock.
